Workout Planner
Turn a photo of your workout plan into a workout on your Garmin watch.
Share a screenshot or photo of a workout plan and the app reads it, structures it, and sends it to your Garmin watch. All parsing happens on your iPhone — there is no server and no cloud AI involved.

Workout Planner is a workout-import app for iPhone. This policy explains what the app does with your data — in short: everything stays on your device except the requests you ask the app to make to your own Garmin account.
What the app does
Workout Planner turns a photo or screenshot of a workout plan into a structured workout, then — if you choose — sends it to your Garmin watch through your own Garmin Connect account.
What happens on your device
- Photos and screenshots. When you pick or share an image with the app, it is read and analyzed entirely on your iPhone using Apple's on-device Vision framework (text and table recognition) and, where your device supports it, Apple's on-device Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence). On older or unsupported iPhones, the app falls back to a simpler on-device rules-based parser. Either way, the app never uploads your photos or the text extracted from them anywhere — there is no server to upload them to; the app has no backend of its own.
- Workout history. Workouts you've imported and sent are saved locally (Apple's SwiftData framework) so you can review or re-send them later, and are never transmitted anywhere by the app.
- Settings. Unit preferences, heart-rate/pace zones, and default device are stored locally in iOS's standard app-settings storage (UserDefaults) and never leave your device.
What happens with your Garmin account
If you choose to connect a Garmin account, the app opens Garmin's own sign-in page inside the app so you sign in directly with Garmin — the app never sees or stores your Garmin password. After you sign in, Garmin issues the app a security token, stored in the iOS Keychain (Apple's secure, encrypted credential storage) rather than in the app's ordinary files. That token is what lets the app create, schedule, and push workouts to your watch on your behalf, using only your own Garmin account.
When you send a workout, the app talks directly to Garmin's own servers (connectapi.garmin.com, sso.garmin.com, diauth.garmin.com) — the same kind of request the official Garmin Connect app makes. The app's developer does not see, log, or store this traffic; it goes straight from your iPhone to Garmin, under your own account. Garmin's handling of your account data is governed by Garmin's own privacy policy, not this one.
You can disconnect your Garmin account at any time from Settings → Sign out, which deletes the stored token from your Keychain immediately.
What the app does not do
- No analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs of any kind.
- No third-party libraries other than Garmin's own open FIT SDK (used on-device to build
.fitworkout files — it makes no network calls). - No accounts are created with the app's developer. The app has no user database, because the app has no server.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
- No selling, sharing, or otherwise transmitting your photos, workouts, or Garmin data to any third party for advertising or any other purpose.
Sharing workouts without a Garmin account
If you'd rather not connect a Garmin account, the app can export a workout as a standard .fit file instead, which you can transfer to your watch yourself (e.g. over USB). This path never touches Garmin's servers or any network at all.
Camera and photo access
The app asks for photo-library and camera access only so you can pick or capture a workout plan to import. Images you select are processed as described above and are never uploaded anywhere by the app.
Children
Workout Planner is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Frequently asked
How do I import a workout plan? Share a screenshot or photo of the plan to the app (using the share sheet from Photos or another app), or open the app and pick an image from Photos directly. The app reads and structures the workout on your iPhone.
Is it safe to sign in with my Garmin account? Yes. Sign-in happens on Garmin's own page inside the app — the app never sees or stores your Garmin password. Only a security token is kept, in the iOS Keychain.
The app says "no watch found." Open the Garmin Connect app and let it sync with your watch once, then try sending the workout again.
I don't want to connect my Garmin account — can I still use the app? Yes. Export the workout as a standard .fit file and transfer it to your watch yourself (e.g. over USB).
Is this an official Garmin app? No. Workout Planner is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Garmin Ltd.
